This building at Falls Creek designed by Salter Architects in Victoria features Spotted Gum cladding. A Shiplap profile is ideal to use in harsh environments as the profile design allows movement in the timber due to changes in the ambient moisture. In winter the timber will expand, due it taking in moisture, particularly in width and in summer the timber will shrink, as it will dry, however the design of the shiplap allows for these changes. Shiplap cladding suits cutting edge contemporary buildings and traditional ones alike. The internal stair case has been finished in American Oak with a clear finish to allow the natural colour of the timber to remain. The main feature of American Oak is its beautiful grain pattern.
