Hotel Nishi in Canberra features recycled Messmate that has been machined carefully to preserve the character of the previous life of the timber. Many different sizes of timber were used very successfully to create the ceilings and screen walls. The recycled timber was also laminated to create the stair treads and risers in a most unusual staircase design that is stunning.
